Discover how biomass crops can enhance your land management strategy, learn from experts, tour the crops, and network with other industry professionals.


The event will focus on showcasing a range of biomass crops and discussions on the agronomy, economics, and environmental impacts of different biomass crops, and how biomass crops can be integrated into existing land management systems for maximum benefit.

Short presentations will be given by:

  • Scottish Government Policy and Whole Farm Plans. Insights into the latest Scottish Government policies, focusing on the introduction and benefits of Whole Farm Plans. Craig Bothwell, Senior Consultant and Area Manager, SAC Consulting.
  • Forestry Grants and Biomass Opportunities. An overview of available forestry grants, the balance of costs vs. income, and the role of biomass in land management. David Eadie, Forestry Consultant, SAC Consulting.
  • Carbon basics and net zero challenges. An introduction to carbon literacy, including a look at the fundamental challenges in achieving net zero and how biomass fits into carbon reduction strategies. Sarah Erbanova, Environmental Conultant, SAC Consulting.

This will be followed by an opportunity to see the progress of a wide range of crops currently growing at the site on SRUC Boghall Farm and  discuss their agronomy, harvest and economics with the biomass experts.
