BSAS 2020 Conference: The Challenge of Change

The BSAS Annual Conference 2020 will champion advances in animal science, stimulate the incorporation of research into practice and support initiatives that promote high welfare and sustainability.

BSAS is the innovator and connector of animal science research and information, working with partners to ensure links from academia to application.

The Conference is for anyone interested or involved in animal science, through industry or academia, work with animals and livestock or are involved in the care, sustainability and utility of animals.




The Conference is a platform on which to discuss a holistic approach to define:-

  • The role of animal science in solving the world’s food crisis
  • How we can, globally, address the challenges of food security, nutrition and production

The Conference discusses:-

  • How human health and well-being is affected by the Challenge of Change
  • The interface between humans, animals, and the environments we share
  • How we unify approaches to improve animal health and welfare whether companion, zoo, equine or wild

A funding opportunity of up to £1,500 is open to applicants from emerging countries in the early stages of their career, the award focuses on supporting these animal scientists to travel to the UK to attend and present at the BSAS Annual Conference. 

Applications also support international collaborations and visits to UK institutions to enhance skills and experiences or add value to the applicant existing work are particularly welcomed.
