Tuesday 27th October 2026, 2:00pm to 4:00pm
The Roslin Institute Basement Seminar Room
Exploring knowledge transfer partnerships (KTPs). An introduction, Q&A and networking session on Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) and an opportunity to discover how companies and academics can work together to secure funding, drive innovation and create impact.
KTPs are a three-way partnership between a company, an academic institution and a highly skilled graduate. They support ambitious innovation projects lasting one to three years, helping businesses access specialist expertise to grow revenue and market share, while enabling academics to translate and apply their research in an industry setting.
KTPs can be a great next step for academic researchers and organisations currently involved in, or interested in, collaborative doctoral training and iCASE/Collaborative studentships. For many organisations, these studentships establish a successful research partnership.
The session will draw on real KTP experience from:
Session topics:
How companies and academics can get involved in KTPs and build successful academic–industry partnerships.
The business, scientific and technical challenges that can form the basis of a project, as well as the benefits KTPs can deliver.
Lessons and outcomes from real KTP projects, including how they can support graduate career development and routes into industry.
Meet potential collaborators, ask questions and discuss potential project ideas with the KTP team.
Presentations from 2pm to 3 pm followed by networking with tea/coffee and cake.
