Industry agri-tech hub

Driving forward agri-tech innovation and collaboration on Campus

The Data-Driven Innovation (DDI) Agri-Tech Hub on The University of Edinburgh Easter Bush Campus seeks to leverage existing world-class research institutes and commercialisation facilities to help the region become a global location of agri-tech and veterinary excellence.

A Campus-wide network  generates and collates, in real time, a multitude of local and global data such as veterinary activities, animal genetics, food species genetics, soil condition, weather and market drivers.

On the ground floor of the Charnock Bradley Building, this new work space has been developed to accommodate the growing demand and expansion of Animal Health, Agritech and Aquaculture (A3), together with One Health focussed tenant companies and academic organisations based at Roslin Innovation Centre.

Open plan and private office space, meeting rooms and pods, are connected by an internal stairwell and lift to the upper floors of Roslin Innovation Centre.

Kitchen areas and informal breakout spaces are available throughout Roslin Innovation Centre.

The interior design is sleek and modern, combining natural wood, steel, glass, our signature green furnishings and white walls which is a perfect canvas for displaying thriving, creative moss wall artwork.

The area is light and airy benefiting from the floor to ceiling windows that look across Campus and toward the centrepiece of Canter - a steel structure of a horse’s head designed by Andy Scott (of Kelpie-fame).

This development provides a solution for the growth of current tenants and in turn releases ‘incubator’ space within the Levels 1 and 2 of Roslin Innovation Centre which offers a combination of open plan and customised office and lab space to accommodate and attract A3 and One Health spin-outs and start-ups starting their entrepreneurial journey.

Alongside being an Agri-Tech Hub within DDI, Easter Bush is also a national hub for A3 and One Health for the BBSRC with the Campus being recognised as a BBSRC UK Research and Innovation Campus - the only one in Scotland. Other DDI Hubs include the Usher Institute, Edinburgh Futures Institute, Bayes Centre, National Robotarium (at Heriot-Watt University) and Edinburgh International Data Facility.

"Roslin Innovation Centre provides a thriving ecosystem for innovation, and is focussed on supporting entrepreneurship, growth and commercialisation opportunities.

"The opening of our new Agri-Tech Hub offers more space for entrepreneurial growth with the added benefit of an established community that encourages collaboration."
