The Data-Driven Innovation (DDI) Agri-Tech Hub on The University of Edinburgh Easter Bush Campus seeks to leverage existing world-class research institutes and commercialisation facilities to help the region become a global location of agri-tech and veterinary excellence.
It will do this through a Campus-wide network that generates and collates, in real time, a multitude of local and global data such as veterinary activities, animal genetics, food species genetics, soil condition, weather and market drivers.
In line with the growing demand and expansion of Animal Health, Agritech and Aquaculture tenants (A3), together with One Health focussed tenant companies and academic organisations based at Roslin Innovation Centre, a DDI supported development of vacant ground floor space commenced in 2023 to drive forward agri-tech innovation and collaboration on Campus.
This large area, adjacent to the front entrance of the Charnock Bradley Building and reception atrium offered sufficient height to create a mezzanine level for the creation of private office and meeting rooms in a variety of sizes. This space is in addition to an open plan office area, hot desk membership area, with a range of meeting hubs and facilities on the lower level. There is lift access between the two levels.
The interior design is sleek and modern, combining natural wood, steel, glass, our signature green furnishings and white walls which is a perfect canvas for displaying thriving, creative moss wall artwork. The area is light and airy benefiting from the floor to ceiling windows that look across Campus and toward the centrepiece of Canter - a steel structure of a horse’s head designed by Andy Scott (of Kelpie-fame).
The new Agri Hub, or the ‘moss zone’, opened for business in May 2024 when we welcomed AbacusBio, Carcinotech and Wobble Genomics, all whom are existing Roslin Innovation Centre tenants.
These companies have significantly expanded their teams over recent years and this new space brings essential private meeting and office space for their growth.
We look forward to welcoming new tenants Citiglobal, joining us in September 2024.
This development provides a solution for the growth of current tenants and in turn releases ‘incubator’ space within the Levels 1 and 2 of Roslin Innovation Centre which offers a combination of open plan and customised office and lab space to accommodate and attract A3 and One Health spin-outs and start-ups starting their entrepreneurial journey.
Roslin Innovation Centre is further expanding its offer to include ‘Membership’ packages for individuals or businesses looking for hot desk touch down space on Campus, enabling collaboration and engagement opportunities with our dynamic A3 and One Health innovation community.
