Summer School in Epidemiology, Genetics and Modelling for Infectious Disease Control

Monday 31st August 2026, 9:00am to Friday 4th September 2026, 5:00pm

King's Buildings Campus, University of Edinburgh

The Summer School will promote the advancement of learning, and support the development, dissemination and deployment of knowledge and research in the fields of quantitative genetics, statistical and field epidemiology, and disease phenomics, using interdisciplinary approaches.

Addressing today’s global challenges in infectious disease requires innovative, interdisciplinary approaches.

This summer school brings together leading expertise in quantitative genetics, epidemiology, and disease phenomics to equip participants with the skills needed for sustainable disease control, and enhance future collaboration opportunities and showcase expertise on Campus.

The week-long programme is designed for PhD students, early career scientists and industry professionals with backgrounds in veterinary or medical sciences, or quantitative genetics.

It will comprise lectures, practical computer exercises with a data analysis component, group work and short research projects, discussion groups, and a social programme, so that participants will get a hands-on experience of the topics covered and will be encouraged to network.
